The Officers for the year 2008 - 2009 were installed.

Jim McIntire delivered the new President's Comments.

Col Benjamin H. and Mrs. Anne Purcell were the featured speakers for the event.

The Piedmont Chapter surprised the Purcell's by presenting Col Purcell a cupcake in honor of his 80th birthday which he celebrated two days before addressing our Chapter.

Col Purcell delivered a moving speech in which he recited the events of his last mission in Vietnam in 1968, his capture by the NVA and his imprisonment of five years in a POW camp before his release in 1973.

Mrs. Anne Purcell describes her life and worries during Col Purcell's imprisonment. For 18 months he was listed as MIA. She and her family finally learned that he was a POW but had no idea as to his condition until his release.

Jim McIntire presented Col. Purcell a Speaker's Certificate in appreciation for his address.

Col. Purcell provided a display of artifacts of his ordeal and copies of his book, Love and Duty, which sold briskly.

The Color Guard Retired the Colors at the conclusion of the meeting.

The Officers for the year 2008 - 2009 lined up for a photo op.
