Piedmont Chapter Sons of the American Revolution program for December 20, 2008
ROBIN McWHIRTER PROTRAYS NANCY HART
A Cherokee County native, Robin has combined her love of drama, writing, and teaching to offer historical reenactments of several interesting characters. Among her characters was Nancy Hart, best known for holding several Tories at bay in her home with their own rifles! Born in 1735 in North Carolina, she was a cousin to the famous Daniel Boone. Her uncle was General Daniel Morgan. Nancy, known in history as the War Woman, was a brave Revolutionary heroine. She was a spy for the American cause and brought back information that helped General Elijah Clark win the battle at Kettle Creek.
Be sure and come to our Chapter meeting on December 20 and hear how she defended home and country with courage and intelligence.
