Introduction

Signs throughout the area proclaim “SUPPORT OUR TROOPS”. 

Have you ever wondered how to put this idea into practice?  I have.  I know that our prayers and thoughts are in support of troops in an emotional way.  But how do we support troops materially?  Mary and Ed Ettel will tell us how they have been supporting our troops for several years in a material as well as an emotional way.  They have turned the basement of their home into a warehouse where items are stored, selected, packed and sent overseas. They will tell us of the efforts of many who volunteer their help along with comments from the troops overseas. 

There are other troops who have given much in the defense of our country and have paid a price with injuries and the need for rehabilitation.  Phyllis Tanner, wife of our immediate past president Carl Tanner, will tell us about the soldiers undergoing rehab at Walter Reed Army Hospital.  Phyllis, while attending the Daughters of the American Revolution National Conference, had the opportunity to visit this hospital and witnessed the care our soldiers are receiving.

This will be an outstanding program for all of us.  I encourage you to make plans to attend and hear about how to “SUPPORT OUR TROOPS.”
